Good byes

One of Ellie's closest friends is moving and today was her last day. Ellie is so sad and depressed. She truly is grieving for this friendship.

I walked her into school today for the primary reason of getting pictures of Ellie and her friend.

After dinner Ellie and I took a walk over to 7-11 and I got her a treat. It won't keep her friend at her school but hopefully it'll make it easier.

Happy and Sad

He's always a pretty happy guy.

Ellie, however, is sad. Her best friend is moving all the way to Orange County. She has been very distraught.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Mike!

We went to Greek Festival on Saturday. It was hot but eventually cooled down and was lovely. The kids met up with friends and ran around on the bouncers. There was amazing food (my kids the carnivores) and then Ellie learned how to write her name and the names of her family in Greek. Apparently Ellen (Eleni) and Nick (Nico) are VERY popular. Ann and Calvin however, not so much...

Also, after I told her I wasn't going to buy her candy...(only Greek dessert for you!) she found a loop hole and won a hula hoop contest and got her ring pop.

Haircut

We had a long and jam-packed weekend even with Nick in Chicago/Dallas.

On Saturday Calvin got a haircut. He was weeks overdue. His shaggy and messy look was overgrown and into his ears.

So he got a haircut! And for the first time he didn't cry!

And now he looks so handsome and grown up!

Brave

He was brave this morning. He tried with all his might not to cry. He gave his sister hugs and kisses with holding back tears.

I had a long day. Down and back to SD, but I made it back in time to pick up E just before 6. Had a friend grab Cal because I wasn't sure I would make it.

Teeth

So Ellie has a loose tooth. Finally. It's a top tooth.

Today she also had a cavity dealt with.

We have been talking quite a bit about teeth.

Cal still is weepy at drop off. Although I have been told that he's happy after I leave and he has fun. He sure falls asleep quickly at night now...

Woo-woo

On Sunday So. Pasadena had an emergency services open house and car show. We saw lots of hot rods and fancy cars as well as fire trucks, police cars, and a helicopter. It would have been more fun if it wasn't 101 degrees and lunchtime.

But Calvin was impressed with all the fire trucks.

Webster back to school night

I went to Webster's back to school night tonight. Nick stayed home with the kids.

I was really impressed and excited by Es teacher. I think she will have an awesome year, even if it means studying for vocabulary tests every month.

Calvin while he has been pooping in the potty, is also having a hard time at drop off. Today he asked why he can't go to Kids Klub...

Full Saturday

Saturday was full. Exhaustingly full.

Nick worked from 1am to 8am.
Cal earned a donut for pooping in the potty at school.
Target had to be visited.
Ellie had theory.
She had soccer immediately after theory.
Lunch
Ellie and I went to her friends sisters Suzuki Book 3 recital (so awesome).
Then we all went to a ice cream party at Ms Wildhabers house.
Promptly all fell asleep.

Today was grandparents day at Webster. Nick took Ellie The Habit and hung out with her friends during lunch and then went shopping at the book fair.

Fall chaos

Fall is chaotic. There all the back to school stuff, the start of sports/ballet/music, homework, work events start back up, professional sport stuff, and general overall chaos.

Today was a day where many things combined to make it crazy. Ellie had piano. I had a ACI board meeting and an evening meeting/event (after bouncing between two job sites). Cals new school had the back to school night. So Nick took E to piano, picked up C, brought them home, and fed them. Then we had Cals favorite teacher come to babysit while he went to back to school night as well. Cal was happy to see Denise. Ellie was happy. Of course they didn't go to bed until like 45 minutes past their bedtime, but a minor price to pay to have it all.

Also, Calvin found a book about baseball in the school library.

Partners

Cal has a buddy, a partner, an older friend that watches out for him. And she takes her job VERY seriously and is proud to do it. I know because her mom told me.

He pooped in his pants again today. We gotta get over this...

I didn't take a pic today but I have a pic that Ellie's friends older sister took of her and the girls who were hanging out during a play date. I know that's confusing. But, Ellie's older friend (a tween) just got a phone and got the girls to take a selfie. She then texted it to her mom.

Meher Day 2

Well he is eating well, sleeping well (both nap and at home), and making friends. He has been so happy to be in charge of his lunchbox. He pooped in his pants today (it was going to happen).

Ms. Wildhaber sent me a pic of him working yesterday with the cylinder blocks.

Ellie came with me to drop him off today and was so happy to see her old teachers. She was surprised by how much had changed though.

Back to Meher

After we moved to Pasadena in 2012 Meher Montessori school became Ellie's new normal and they welcomed her with open arms and smiles. It was the one stable constant for a few months wile we were in transition. She thrived and we loved her time there.

Now it's Calvin's turn.

Today was his first day. He was definitely emotional about leaving Kids Klub and his beloved Ms Denise. He was also excited because Ellie talked about Meher so much. Last night he didn't sleep very well and woke up several times. Definitely new school jitters and excitement.

This morning he was so brave and so excited about his lunchbox. He recognized a few faces (a sibling of Ellie's classmate and his teacher). He was welcomed by teachers and children. When I left he was trying his hardest on the tricycle.

I called at noon and the report was great. He had gotten a little sad between activities but for the most part was engaged and seemed happy. And he ate all his lunch.

When I picked him up he was quietly playing with pretend cakes and working on his fine motor skills to put play candles on the cakes. He did NOT have a potty accident. He fell asleep easily at nap time. He was happy.

Although it's hard to get a full report about their day from a 2.5 year old, I understood that he ate his berries, did not go on the tire swing, he ate lunch with his friend Maelin, and played with dough.

Ms Wildhaber is having edamame for snack tomorrow in honor of Calvin.
