Back to school
After a long fun holiday weekend it was back to normal for us. Both kids went back to school and I had another long day at work.
But we did have Thanksgiving leftovers for dinner. Calvin can not get enough of the Brussel sprouts!
While in SB the kids really enjoyed playing at Foothill. Ellie wanted to race everyone in the 100 yard dash and made it up the climbing rope and subsequent monkey bars. Calvin had a blast on the big slide. Everyone enjoyed static electricity hair from the slide.

Yesterday E went and saw Moana with friends. She said it was good.

Thanksgiving week day 3
Today Calvin had school. But, we had a special breakfast at Starbucks before I dropped him off.
Today was special as Ms. Wildhaber's boys came to school with her. Calvin was so excited to see Jack and Ethan and get to spend the day with them. The feeling was apparently mutual.

Ellie has been living the life up in SB.

Feast
Today Calvin had a feast at school. Families brought dishes inspired by their heritage (we brought sugar cookies shaped as turkeys, which is more exciting than the white bread I took to Ellie's feast her last year there). Nick was able to make it and said a good time was had by all.

Thanksgiving week Day 1
Ellie is up in SB as she has no school this week. Calvin does have school so he is hanging out with us.

The weekend was fun. It was her last soccer game (and she got her trophy). Of course her last game was against her BFF's team. The kids and I checked out new exhibits/play space at KidSpace. But what they liked best was the fact that they were able to do some of the activities TOGETHER.

There goes another one...
Loose tooth #2
Ellie has her second VERY loose tooth. I figured it would have fallen out tonight because it was so loose and she was wiggling it so much. But it didn't.
My do anticipate her losing it at school tomorrow.

And here are some pictures of Calvin playing trains with his friend.

Birthday party
Calvin got invited to a birthday party and so we went. And by we I mean me and Calvin. It was at an equestrian center so there were horses and goats and a pig and a llama.
Calvin is not an animal person.
He was seriously freaked out by the horses and would not go into the petting zoo and watched from afar. He also did not ride a horse (the only kid there who didn't...but I wasn't gonna let that happen).
But he enjoyed seeing his friends (who were 4 and 5) and playing with them. They had some arts and crafts which he had fun with. And of course the food.

Vote
Dear Ellen and Calvin,
Tomorrow morning you will both wake up and we will have to explain to you that Hilary Clinton will not be our next president. We will be upset together.
I had hoped that tomorrow morning I would be able to talk with you about how being born a woman doesn't put a limit on your dreams, that hurtful and cruel words have consequences, that being a bully doesn't get you what you want, and that that education, experience, and perseverance are the path to success.
I hope that your father and I are strong and resilient enough and that the bubble we live in here in Los Angeles County are enough to protect you from the fear and hate that apparently is so prevalent.
Know that your father and I voted not only for us but for your future and we will fight to make it better for you.
I'm so sorry.
Love will always trump hate.
Vote.

Back...
It's been a whirlwind of chaos and travels lately, hence the MIA posts.
But between World Series games and ballet recitals and a visit to the Alamo and vocabulary tests...
This happened...

We took the side off of his crib last night. Mostly because I was tired of putting him in his crib.
The first night went well. Even at 5am when he called out saying he had to use the bathroom I told him it wasn't wake up time yet and he went back to sleep.
