Calvin’s Field Trip

Today I chaperones Calvin’s first field trip at Webster. The field trip was to KidSpace, a local kids museum. Calvin had been there many times but when he was younger and he didn’t remember much. 

Because I’m a Level 2 volunteer who has been fingerprinted and had a background screen (had to to go to Sacramento with the kids last year) I am permitted by PUSD to be alone with kids on a field trip. So, Mr Stubbs gave me a group of 9 kids to chaperone at the museum. Of course I had Calvin and I also had his best friend. But I also got to know several of his classmates. 

I also got to experience what a bored Calvin who is over the “easy baby lesson” being taught by the museum staff. He isn’t disruptive but he definitely checked out when he wasn’t being challenged. 

It was a blast and the kids were fantastic.

Recovery

A week ago I got back from Boston and attending Susies baby shower. I also was sick, super sick. Quite likely the flu sick. I was down to about 20% for a few days and my brain wouldn’t let me focus (like I couldn’t do Ellie’s math homework focus). But I have survived and am close to being almost back to normal, although I have a nasty cough currently. 

But Boston was fun!
