Butter

When Susie was here she made scrambled eggs with butter. I don't. Apparently butter makes everything better and Ellie reminds me that Susies scrambled eggs are better than mine.

So now I make them with butter. Mornings are happy. Calvin inhales them, like literally, inhales. So yeah, butter makes them better.

This evening my big boy, carrying his lunch walked to the front door from the car.

Pretend

I'm pretending last week didn't exist. Sure it was great to see Susie and we had a great time up to SB and all the fun times the kids had with her.

Im choosing to forget about the constant diarrhea that lead to borderline dehydration for Calvin. The trip to the ER with Ellie (which resulted in me passing out and vomiting). And the fact that my body finally succumbed to whatever the kids had over the weekend. Stupid flu/stomach bug/high fevers/whatever else made everyone sick.

All seems to be well now. The kids are healthy and I'm recovering well.

So yes. It's a new week and here is to no missed school/daycare, no checking temperatures in the middle of the night, not changing 26 exploding poopy diapers in 18 hours, and no BRAT diet foods. Fingers crossed.

Field trip, movie night, and SuSu!

It's a big day round out parts today.

First Ellie had a field trip to the LA Natural History Museum. I am my chaperoning because I'm overwhelmed with work. And this is one that I actually wanted to chaperone. The last time anyone from our family went on a field trip to the Natural History Museum the Rodney King riots broke out. And so, yeah, I know there isn't a controversial trial verdict sent to come down today...but yeah the museum isn't in the best part of town either. But no calls from school so I think all went well, I can't wait to hear from her.

Tonight is also movie night at school. Nick and E will head over to check out the movie projected on a screen on the playground. Apparently there will be snacks and drinks for sale.

And tonight SuSu comes! So exciting.

Calvin, however, is pretty much unaware of what is going on and just happy to get to play in the ball pit at school, his favorite hangout (well the food table may be his favorite but the ball pit is a very close second).

Best of times...worst of times

Mornings are awesome when you see the sibling love between Cal and Ellie in the form of hugs, kisses, and snuggles.

This morning Cal just wanted to give E hugs while she was packing her backpack.

And then it became the worst of times when Calvin learned that he could pull his sisters hair and get a pretty epic response out of her.

Mommy's back

After a few days in Kansas City I'm back. Thanks to Nick and Grandma Pam for keeping everything quasi normal while I was away.

Calvin was trying really hard to be like the bigger kids and ride the pony thingie at school. It took him a while and he was so happy when he finally made it on.

He had super fun playing with chocolate pudding during school today. He apparently was the first to figure out that it was good and tasted good...not sure if its a good thing that my kids puts stuff in his mouth before other kids. But he also made a mess and had to wear spare clothes (without pants). Apparently he walked all day because he didn't like he feeling of crawling without his pants.

His teacher told me a funny story tonight at pickup. When they were doing the chocolate pudding after Cal found out it was edible he would take a bite, then sign "more" and take another handful and eat it. He was signing more before every bite. They do sign at school and were pretty impressed that he had picked it up.

My little baby is a toddler...but I'm pretending he isn't growing so fast.

Breakfast at school

Cal is hilarious and he knows who is in charge.

This morning he really really wanted his applesauce. He knew that his teacher, standing to his right, was in charge at school and to make puppy-dog eyes at her. Me, who am I once he's at school?!?

Sick day

Ellie had a fever and difficulty seeping overnight. She woke up with a fever and complained she was dizzy and her tummy hurt. So she's home today.

She is responding to Tylenol and has no other complaints. She does have a cough. It's definitely a watch and see what happens.

She's currently watching Toy Story. But I did make her finish her homework and do 1st grade homework.

Seriously?!?

Nick is in Chicago until Thursday. Calvin is not 100% (neither is E but she is closer to 90% than Calvin is).

So when Cal started fussing and crying at 5:00am I knew it wasn't just his usual poop. He was really fussy and he has actually cried so much because of not feeling well, teeth erupting, and jealousy of wanting to play with the big kids, not to mention only one parent in the house that his voice is a little hoarse. He also has a cough and we've had to use the nebulizer quite a bit. And so at 5:01am I went to him. I tried co

sleeping, feeding him, cuddling, everything I could think of at that hour and he was still fussy.

Ugh.

And of course I'm not 100%... And then I got a call from daycare that he fell twice and bumped his head...poor thing, I went and visited him at lunch. He lost it when I had to go, which he has never done...

But after sown FaceTime with Nick, Cindy, Mike, and Tristan, they went to bed early. And I am going to go to bed early too.

Sad eyes

The little man has had some sad eyes lately, and it's not just because his daddy has gone to Chicago for opening day without him.

Nor was it because his sister wouldn't let him into her room this morning.

No the little man hasn't been feeling too well. We had to break out the nebulizer and even took it to daycare so that they could give him a treatment during the day.

But he was pretty excited about breakfast burritos at school.

I know that kid!

Today I was walking out of daycare and noticed a picture of Calvin in their collection of, look how cute these kids are and how much fun they have at school, pictures.

It's like he's photo bombing his own picture and sticking out his tongue while doing it.

Calvin's dinner

Tonight Calvin had cheddar cheese, a ritz cracker, half a strawberries, black olives, green olives and sardines. I started with the green olives. Watching a baby eat a green olive is as exciting as you think it would be. He was happy as a clam. Hmm...clams, I wonder how he would feel about those?

When I told E what he had for dinner, she said, "wow that's a lot of food!" Not the reaction one would expect. It was definitely a we are awesome parents. My kid eats snails, alligator and thinks feeding sardines and olives to her brother is cool.

As a side note today was my 10-year anniversary at work.
