Summer day 35/ bath reno day 5

Life sharing a small bathroom in the guesthouse with a clingy toddler in the mornings.

Could be worse. He could get ahold of my phone and start taking selfies...oh... (Yes, that is Calvin's forehead).

He somehow got the camera open, and flipped the lens around to take a selfie without my help, from the lock screen. And then took a few pictures (this was the best).

Today the hot mop for the shower pan is going it. It's gonna be stinky. But next week will be super exciting as the walls will start going back and tile will start.

Summer Day 34 / bath remodel day 4

Something exciting happened in the bathroom today with the electrical work. We will have a light in the shower in the kids bath!! Small thing but enormous deal.

Cal was so hungry he sat at the table for breakfast by himself. And Ellie hung out with Grandma Van.

Summer Day 32 / bathroom Day 2

It was a busy day of demo in the bathroom. Everything is gone, except the tub. There is a hole in the ceiling straight into the roof space.

Calvin has settled into the guest house.

And E is apparently really enjoying camp!

Summer Day 31 / Bathroom Remodel Day 1

Ellie is up in SB enjoying NH museum camp learning about dinosaurs. Apparently all is going well and she is getting spoiled with awesome meals and her grandparents.

Today we started the bathroom remodel. We are starting in the kids bathroom. Calvin and I are sleeping in the guesthouse (to keep the dust from him). Nick is still working out his schedule but will probably sleep in the house to prevent waking up Cal. There is dust protections up and we are basically locked out with plastic from the bedroom side of the house. But the end result will be awesome.

Summer Day 33

Today was Ellies last, last day at Meher. She is now too old to attend summer school or anything else. She actually started crying in the car on the way to school, but once there she was happy to tell Calvin all about the gekko while we watched its feeding.

Today I also picked both of them up early and headed up to SB. Both are spending the night at grandma and grandpas house. I hope it all goes well for all! Of course Now that Calvin knows they have strawberries in their backyard it should be pretty easy to keep him happy.

Summer day 32

Mr Grumpypants. That's who Cal was this morning. Which in turn made me cranky and Ellie stressed and unhappy. Calvin was even doing things to piss his sister off with little to no gain for him. It was amusing to watch but frustrating when it's at 6:15am.

This incoming tooth is really bugging him. He is also having difficulty fitting something into the spot where the tooth is to gnaw on to ease the pain a little bit. It's almost through, I can start to see the white.

He was even so cranky and grumpy that I made a not of it on his sign in sheet where parents can leave messages for the teachers. I think this section is supposed to be for stuff like, still needs the nebulizer twice at school or will pick him up early for a dr appointment. But I felt that his grumpiness this morning was important to share.

Summer Day 31

The weekend was fun. Between rainstorms that is. Nick and E took a hike (inspired by Susie perhaps?). There was also some water play and hanging with friends.

This morning Calvin had trouble leaving the train table at Meher. The last image is blurry but ellie was helpful helping convince Cal it was time to go home when we picked him up from daycare.

Summer Day 30

Today was pajama day for Ellie at school today. I totally forgot to take a picture of her in her jammies. School also provided a breakfast-for-lunch lunch. She had a blast.

Today was stuffed animal day for Calvin. Kids were asked to bring in their favorite stuffed animal. Calvin doesn't have an affinity for any stuffed animals like E had for Baby Sister and Red Blankie. I joked with his teacher that we should have him bring in a ball. We brought Mini-Hobbes. Of course he had to have a tiger!

Which leads me to a funny story I heard from his teacher. Apparently if there is a choice of colors Calvin will grab the orange one. He prefers to have the Orange ball and the Orange block when they are playing. Also, he likes the little tiger figurine the best, to the point that he takes it from other kids. So maybe we are doing something right.

Summer Day 29

So I grabbed some leftover donuts from the event last night and brought them home. Ellie speed them immediately. And being the cool mom I am (and the fact that they were mini donuts) I told her if she had room after she ate her eggs she could pick one.

I don't think Cal was too happy that he didn't get one though...

Summer Day 28

It was a long day. Calvin had night terrors last night not once but twice. It's horrible because he's sound asleep and you can't comfort him but yet he is thrashing and shrieking like he smashed his fingers in the door of the car. I didn't sleep well.

And then I had a work dinner thing which had good food and treats but required me to talk small talk and shop with industry people and that really wears me out.

Enjoy a picture of my dinner.

(Yes, I brought home leftovers)

Summer day 27

I wish I got a hot breakfast (or even two in Calvin's case) each morning.

Ellie's home!

Nick, Ellie and I all went to pick up Calvin from daycare. As soon as he saw Ellie he ran across the room as fast as he could with a giant smile. As soon as he slobbered on E he begged to be picked up by Nick. He was so happy to have them home.

Of course, I couldn't get a picture of the two of them together and all smiles.

Summer day 24

Calvin was a little freaked out his sister wasn't around this morning. He kept going to her door and pounding in it (sometimes I have him do that to start waking her up).

So he was very excited to get to see her via FaceTime this evening. And he got a bonus...cousin Tristan was there too! Little kids with FaceTime is always fun.

Summer Day 23

Note: I tried to post this yesterday but had technical difficulties.

So E and Nick are off to Chicagoland for a few days while Cal and I hold down the fort.

So it is only fitting that yesterday Cal started to wave and say "bye bye". It's barely bye bye and if he wasn't waving you would wonder what he was saying. But he waved and told everyone bye bye at school yesterday.

And then ate all his large portion of Mac and cheese with a fork. And then 1/4 a can of black beans. And then had milk and water. Guess he was hungry.

Summer Day 22

Fish!

I picked Cal up a little early and so we took some time to check out the fish at daycare. He loves them.

Summer Day 21

Technically summer day 20 was a holiday, so yeah 21 is right.

Besides being a long weekend with the Fourth of July it was pretty exciting. Ellie got a pair of roller skates from our neighbor (hand me downs) and she had fun.

Calvin went to the dentist today. With two more teeth he will have them all, and those two are working their way out now. All is well with his teeth and apparently he cooperated for the most part as well.
