A daily dose of Ellie, Calvin, or both!

Tristan's Birthday!

Happy 4th Birthday Tristan! We had a great FaceTime call with Tristan, Cindy, and Mike. I didn't get and pics, but it was really cute seeing the kids talking with each other.

Grandma is still here and when Grandma is here we all get home cooked meals. Calvin ate quinoa (in additional to lots of other things) and Ellie had lentil soup and roasted vegetables.

Countdown to London = tomorrow!

Drop off was great! I even got a smile from him, mostly because he was playing with a pumpkin.

I had to get Ellie from school right at the bell today. She was so excited to go to "car pickup" and not her after school program. She then came to work with me for a little bit and drew a nice playground. She also wrote me some nice notes on post-it's.

Countdown to London = 2 days

Happy Back to the Future Day. After today everything from the movie trilogy will have officially happened in the past. Mind blown. (Btw, where are the self tying shoes? Of all the future predictions that is the one I currently need to make my life easier)

Not tears but not a smile either.

I tried a different approach today. We got there a little earlier before they started transition to breakfast so the kids were playing when we got there. And I put on a big act about how exciting school was and played with him a little bit. I then snuck out. He was not crying when I left! Either he's cool with the new room or was so freaked out by his crazy mom he was happy to see me go.

Countdown to London = 4 days

Calvin had another bad drop-off. All the teachers were so kind and told me that it was short lived and he always has a great day and is happy. I know he does as he is happy when I pick him up.

I really hope he has a good drop-off on Friday before I get on a plane...

Countdown to London = 5 days

Mommy is going to London on Friday. I can not wait. So excited.

Hopefully Calvin gets better with dropoffs before Grandma Pam has to do them next week.

Inservice day

Today Ellie didn't have school, it was a teacher inservice day. It has been a long insane week at work and home and I couldn't afford a day off to stay with her. Hurray for Kids Klub whose school age program has day long programs for days such as today. She said she had fun (although she really wasn't feeling 100% or really even 85% as I saw when I picked her up). And there were a couple kids from Webster at KK in her program today too which she was happy to see.

Calvin wasn't too excited at drop-off...as usual. He wouldn't sit down to eat and had to be occupied by a teacher. Hopefully next week is better.

But the best thing about being a Pooh Bear, they get to take snacks home. Cal carried his little cup of goldfish as if it was precious gems.

Drop off classification

Today would not be classified as a good drop off day for Calvin.

Nicks home!

Nick got back from his playoff baseball extravaganza trip today and went straight from the airport to pick the kids up from school.

Calvin didn't fuss as much at drop off. He was eating so I think that helped. And I got to see his new school class board picture...all smiles now! His Kangaroo picture he was grumpy.

Go Cubs!

Well on to the NLCS for the Cubs! So exciting!

And you know what else is exciting? Having friends who are awesome and bring your kids dinner because you are sick, exhausted, stressed, and don't want to feed your kids another meal which consists of Cheerios.

Drop off was slightly better, only because Calvin found a tiger puppet.

Pooh Bears!

Today was Calvins first day as a Pooh Bear (ages 18mo to 2 years) at school. I asked him if he was excited to be a Pooh Bear and in a new classroom and he shook his head no. Then I asked if he was excited to get to play with one of his buddies who moved up ahead of him and is in his same small group (of course I used the kids name) and I got a smile and a nod yes. So I think he was on the fence about the whole thing.

When we got to school he took time exploring his new environment and toys. He was reluctant to go and eat breakfast but then he did so (where the teachers remarked how well he used his spoon). I figured while he was eating it would be the best time for me to leave. So I said bye to him and then he started crying. He lost it. He yelled and cried and I heard him all the way out to the car.

But I did see his friend coming in as I was leaving and I told him (and his mom) that he was going to be very important today. I stayed a little longer as the little boy entered the room and Calvin saw him. That appeared to start to calm him down.

Just wait until nap time when his routine is different again...he's not gonna like that.

Last day as a Kangaroo

Today was Calvins last day as a Kangaroo. On Monday he joins the bigger toddlers as a Pooh Bear. And of course I didn't manage to get a photo of him in his classroom...

But I did get a bad photo of him yesterday leaving school while he was visiting the Pooh Bears. Apparently you get to take snacks home when you are a Pooh Bear.

Today was also a special lunch day where Nick took Habit to Ellie and joined her for lunch. Then he took her to the book fair and bought her a book about Stan Lee and the World Series...totally all for her.

Facts

Ellie woke up super early this morning and freaked out because she needed me to sign her homework for the week...that is due on Friday.

Calvin will fuss and whine until classical music is playing in my car.

Calvin, just like his dad, will finish your plate. Even if it means double fisting gnocchi.

Treats

So there was quite a bit of junk food eating at Disneyland this weekend. So much that my stomach is messed up. Fortunately the kids appear to be okay.

And yes, those are Mickey shaped pumpkin beignets that we are at like 10:00pm. Yep, I'm that parent.

Countdown

Today was the first day of Cals last week as a Kangaroo, he will move up to the Pooh Bears next Monday.

We got glass for our shower today. It looks nice.

Ellie got a Citizenship award at school last week during their monthly awards assembly. She got to go up on stage and got a certificate and everything. My understanding is she was one of two kids in her class who got the award.

We had a crazy weekend at Disneyland...bedtime be damned! We were all up too late, ate too much junk food, and our legs are sore but we had a great time.

Halloween time

We are starting Halloween celebrations early with a trip to Disneyland tonight for Mickeys Halloween Party night.

Wonder Woman and Cal is wearing some Darth Vader pajamas (practical).

We are staying down here and will go to Disneyland again tomorrow.

I call BS

Cal has to stay home from school because the doctor thinks he has hand foot and mouth. Of course his rash is gone today and he hasn't had a fever.

He's happy and energetic and opinionated as ever.

I also call BS that this playground is for ages 5+.
