Business trip

So today I learned an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas for a whopping 5 hours isn't as fun as it sounds.

(Nope, didn't play the slot machines at the airport)

Thanksgiving break day 1

Ellie is on break, all week, from school. So she is spending a couple days at Kids Klub. She got to see Calvin on the playground and apparently they both thought it was funny.

She also got a late afternoon snack from Calvin's teachers when we went to get Calvin.

Both kids came home with Thanksgiving decorations.

In other news our shelves are up in the bathroom and handles are on the vanity cabinet doors. Which means it's done!

Also, just to document my crazy work day...I spent the morning at a building severely damaged by fire over the weekend because the owner was worried that a wall might fall on the freeway (it won't), the afternoon climbing scaffolding at a national registered landmark in Pasadena, and the evening writing a report for an investigation I did last week for a $25mil (estimated) house in Santa Monica on the beach. Tomorrow I'm going to Las Vegas for a job for 4 hours.

Friday before break

Ellie doesn't have school next week, at all. So today was the last day before break and a free dress day and all the other fun associated with being a Friday. Before we left for school Ellie went through her mental checklist for all the fun (no bringing lunch-she buys on Friday, free dress, $ for popcorn Friday, homework signed, etc...)

Calvin just wanted me to take a picture of him.

Today was also gobble gram delivery day at school for Ellie. The kids, for a dollar, buy a gram (note and big lollipop) for friends and it gets delivered during school. It is a fundraiser for the PTA. Ellie bought one for everyone in her class, her teacher, and the principal.

Guess who was the only kid in her class who didn't get one...

I feel like a failure because I didn't buy one for her from me. Also, I couldn't help assemble them today so I wasn't there to see that she wasn't going to get one and fix it. She seems to be doing well. She didn't make a big deal out of it and just told me in passing.

We did get her report and today. Everything was Advanced, Outstanding or Satisfactory +. I think she's doing okay in school.

Day home

Calvin got sent home from daycare with a fever yesterday. Which means he has to stay home today. He spiked a high fever overnight but hasn't had a fever since 5:30am nor had any medicine (fever reducing) since 2:00am. He has been a little fussy, but normal.

So what do I do with a toddler boy who is well, but home from school and our house is 60 degrees (heater crapped out about a week ago)? Go to Target!!

Cal's hat

Calvin insisted on wearing Nicks workout hat all morning and wouldn't leave it home when we left for school. Someone loves his daddy...

Someone has discovered the funny pages.

But she doesn't think they are funny.

Flu shots

Kids got flu shots today. Ellie was a real trooper and I'm proud of her (no tears, no flinching, no problems at all) for being so brave and a great example for her brother.

Calvin wasn't too keen on the whole thing. What you don't see are his tears...

Kansas City

Last week London...this week Kansas City. This week is for work and far less glamorous than London.

Traveling is hard, but my favorite is talking to Ellie using FaceTime.
