A daily dose of Ellie, Calvin, or both!

Caesar Chavez Day

Chicago has Casmir Pulaski Day.

Boston has Patriots Day.

LA has Cesar Chavez day. That was today. So Ellie didn't have school.

Which means she got to hang out with her besties. So thankful for good friends with flexible work schedules who are willing to take another kid for a few hours.

Then Nick took her to lunch and a movie. Then she got dropped off at my office and I took her to piano. Apparently she was exhausted because within 3 minutes in my car she fell sound asleep on the way to her piano lesson.

Anyway, I think she had a great day.

Btw, Cal slept well last night despite not having a pacifier and had a good nap. Although he did wake up and in his half asleep stupor searched for his pacifier on his mat, including shaking out his blanket. When he didn't find it, a teacher had to help him settle back down.

No pacifier Day 1

Well, Nick took Cals pacifier away last night. He fell asleep but woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. He quickly escalated to hysterical. I tried to get him to sleep with me but he wouldn't. He woke up Ellie early too.

So we are all cranky and tired today.

He did nap at school without it.

This is Ellie's, why are you taking a picture of me in line while I'm tired face.

Well visits

Cal had a fever at school yesterday and so he had a sick day at home today. He's fine. So we took a walk and saw the peacocks.

Then both kids had well visits. Both have below average heights and average or slightly over weights. Normal. Ellie hated the gown she had to wear but measured in at 46" which means she's tall enough for Indiana Jones at Disneyland! Calvin was told he had to stop using a pacifier...so mean Nick took it away cold turkey at bedtime. Wish us good luck!

Grrr...I missed Monday

I missed Monday yesterday mostly because when I get home from yoga after 10:00pm, I'm so focused on getting to bed I forget.

We had a good weekend up in SB. Good times with family and we learned that Calvin can climb out of his crib.

Egg hunt

Calvin had an egg hunt at school today. From what we understand from his description there were eggs everywhere even in the sky and he had to pick the up...and eggs are balls that open.

They made little baskets with the kids and he came home with 5 eggs with some stickers in them.

Today he had an egg sandwiches on an English muffin for school at breakfast. Yesterday it was French toast and bacon. The day before there were waffles I think. No wonder he doesn't mind drop-off!

Readers

This morning I couldn't get the kids to put down books...

...not that I'm complaining.

Late night yoga

So apparently after a 90 minute yoga class I am too tired to write a post.

Sorry.

But here is Calvin from yesterday so excited to see the train.

Probably from his father

Wait, is that melon dipped in ketchup? And he likes it? Where did he learn a thing like that?

Probably from his father.

Happy St Patrick's Day

My kids didn't wear green. #mommyfail

I forgot about it until everyone was dressed. But in my defense I'm pretty sick.

At least Ellie stepped up this morning and got Calvin to put on sunscreen.

Spring Break Camp

Calvin's transition to his new class has been a big deal. But Ellie also is in spring break and we tried a new camp at KidSpace.

The theme is Nature Detectives. She seems to really enjoy it but she isn't telling us much. We know that she has a detective badge, hat, notebook, and yesterday they talked about poop all day.

Frogs day 2

Well drop-off was easier today, likely because he was totally excited about the breakfast burrito he had. And I even had Ellie with me which I though would make the situation worse.

However, I got a call today (primarily about an ouch report) from his teacher who said that he is having trouble with the transitions between activities (new things, new program, new schedule) and that he has trouble walking on the "rope". I witnessed him walking back to his classroom at pickup and the poor dude had tears in his eyes and was holding his teachers hand.

Welcome to the Frogs

Once Calvin turned 2, school wasted not time moving him up to his new classroom.

And he's a Frog!

Drop off is at the big tables in the kitchen and then his teachers take him to his classroom.

He was fine at breakfast, but not once I left him in his room.

Last day

Today was Calvin's last day as a Pooh Bear. The little dude will join the Froggy class starting on Monday. I know he's going to miss the class with his friends and his teacher.

It'll be a totally different experience as instead of mostly being in either his classroom or the small playground outside, he will move between various classrooms (science room, library, trains and puzzles, blocks...yep a whole too for blocks! pretend play, playground, kitchen for food creations). Also, he will eat at the big tables as opposed to the small table in his room.

His main room (home room) will be the science area which is awesome. It has walls made out of aquariums and also houses a big bearded lizard, turtles, a snake, and some iguanas (I think...). I've met his new primary teacher and she's really nice. And all his previous teachers have said the nicest things about his primary teacher.

We shall see how drop-off goes!

Birthday eve

Calvin will turn 2 tomorrow so this evening has been filled with birthday preparations (mostly baking and opening Amazon packages).

Fortunately a couple weeks ago he got practice eating cupcakes at Ellie's birthday party.

I don't have any pics from today, but the staph infection on his face kinda makes him not as cute as normal...it's pretty nasty. But it's healing finally!
