Camp Galileo Day 5

Today was the last day of Session 1 of Camp Galileo. So we got to see all her work and art that she brought home. She had a great time and came home using the words solution and innovate...so it was a success!

I also got a picture of her with her piano buddies. They are hot and tired and so it's a "silly picture". Also, E was pissed we were leaving her at camp for a couple more hours.

It was sports day for Calvin so he wore a Cubs shirt. He also is obsessed again with his fire truck.

Galileo camp day 2

When we were leaving Santa Monica on Sunday there was a homeless woman asking for food for her children. This really bothered Ellie. She was bothered by the fact that there are hungry children, which she knew (I think), but to see it really struck a nerve. That night she cried quite a bit and has been asking for ways to help. We have come up with some ideas, specifically related to going back to school.

She has received a couple notes from her counsellors at camp. Both notes say that she has been collaborative with other campers and given examples.

Calvin has a hard time separating from his favorite teacher Ms. Denise. The other day when I arrived he ran to her and didn't want to leave.

Galileo camp Day 1

Today was the first day of two weeks (two sessions) of Galileo camp for E. It's science, art and outdoors. This weeks theme is National Parks.

She has a friend from webster there and as a surprise there are also two kids from her piano studio. She was super excited.

Over the weekend we had to escape the smoke and raining ash from a big fire in Santa Clarita. The heat and air quality were horrible in Pasadena so we ran to the beach. Santa Monica beach and Long Beach.

Huntington Camp Day 5

When you go to camp at an art museum it should be expected that you bring home art. She had four classes, Middle Ages, patterns, the 5 senses, and "art" (I'm sure there was something more technical to the name but that's what E thinks it was called.)

Huntington Camp Day 4

This morning I asked E to go make herself breakfast. She made toast with jam.

Calvin played in his "fort".

And apparently acting camp has rubbed off...

Huntington Camp Day 1

What a day. We started early and I dropped E off at a friends house at 6:15 so they could take her to camp. I had Cal at daycare at 6:30. Then I drove to SD. I got back n time to get E from camp and then we got ice cream. We then got C early and then went to the Habit for dinner.

We are tired and exhausted and all went to bed early.

The weekend was fun. Cal got pretty good at riding a scooter. You can tell in the photos but E is doing some jumps and tricks on her scooter; C tried to copy her.

Theater Camp Day 12

Decompressing.

I found her quiet in her room playing with Playmobil when I got home tonight. Of course this was after she practiced piano by herself (scales and sight reading included). Apparently she had been in there for a while as Nick was putting Calvin to bed.

Theater Camp Day 10

Today was the first day of the last week of theater camp. I think E has settled in and is really enjoying herself. She's had enough time to learn to cope or deal with what she doesn't like and really engross herself in the things she enjoys. We can't wait for Friday's show!

This weekend we went to a Dodgers game. I was offered seats from a work contact who works for the Dodgers. So yeah, the seats were pretty awesome! Calvin loved it and Ellie had a great time too.

Theater camp day 9

They have magic lessons. And as part of stage craft they learned how to use stage makeup to make a bruise.

Today was Disney Day and so she wore the Elsa dress I made. She took a skirt to change into for Movement and Sword Play.

Theater Camp Day 7

Today was pajama day at camp for E. I didn't get a picture of her though this morning.

But after piano practice I got her to do a couple pages from her theory workbook...

Which made me feel a little better as I totally forgot to bring Calvin a towel and other necessities for water play fat school. Apparently he still got to do water play though...pfew!

Theater Camp day 6

Week number 2 at Theater Camp. According to her her favorite thing is singing and her least favorite thing is the stage combat and that the movement class is fun and really easy for her but hard for a lot of other kids.

The 4th was fun, good friends and food. And Calvin enjoyed a ride on the train and seeing a fire truck up close!
