Not sure that they were listening to the same song.

Birthday parties

Calvin had two birthday parties this weekend. One was at a bowling alley and the second was at a museum. Both were a blast.

At the bowling alley Calvin's older friends (all female) took him under their wig and taught him everything they knew about bowling.

At the second party Calvin wore himself out running around and having fun. It was a new children's museum. He enjoyed the dress up and pretend play in the store.

But the biggest success, he wanted to write his name on the cards for his friends.

Movie night!

Last night was movie night at Webster. I was there to help sell food. Calvin came with me and hung out by my side the whole time. Ellie and Nick had soccer.

The big to do this past week has been a giant crane on our street replacing power poles. Calvin loved watching in on his sick day.

Sick day

It was the first sick day of 2017. We almost made it two months.

Calvin hung out with me and Nick for the day. He spent time with the iPad and some cars in my office. He likes to hide under my desk and play games (PBS kids has an app with games for kids...it's PBS so it has to be educational right?). Ick took him grocery shopping and played basketball in his room (his hamper is the basket).

Almost a year

Calvin went to the doctor today.

The last time he saw the doctor was his 2-year well visit. Despite one ER visit for what I thought may have been a broken toe we almost went a year without seeing a doctor because of illness, surgery, or other bad stuff.

But he has pinkeye. And drainage coming out of the ear WITHOUT the tube. Sigh.

Meet Molly

Ellie got an aquarium for her birthday. She went and got a fish. She named the fish Molly.

Meet Molly.

The kids now like to eat in front of Molly.

Birthday weekend!

What a weekend! It was chocolate and sugar coated to say the least.

And you know it's great when Ellie said tonight when I was giving her hug and kisses, "thank you for such a great birthday weekend. It was the best yet. It's nice that you and daddy made me feel special".

Catch all

He is asleep in this photo. Sound asleep. The other ones I recently posted he was faking it. This day he slept until 6:45am.

He was really excited about his owl on the bag, but over the top happy about the glitter. But he did say that Susu wouldn't like his owl and we should give it to her for Valentines Day.

Here is Ellie writing her Valentines. She knocked them out pretty quickly and without fuss. However, for one classmate she couldn't think of anything nice to say...so she drew a picture.

Swish!

Apparently between playing "dragons with LuLu" and "star sabers with Westley" Calvin spends most of his recess time playing basketball at school. The teachers told me this morning that he is pretty good and really loves to play.

Winter soccer

Ellie had her second soccer game of this short winter graduate league. Unfortunately all the rain has kept the kids off the fields for practice and games.

She seems to enjoy being goalie. But I'm not sure the referee is supposed to give pointers...

Valentines day 2017

Happy Valentines Day!

The kids each made Valentines for their classes. We used notecards and attached them to pencils. Ellie wrote notes to each classmate and Calvin colored the cards and put on stickers. On some of the Valentines he actually wrote the C for his name.

They both came home with age full of Valentines with pencils and stickers. Gone are the days of candy from school.

We had our traditional fondue and chocolate covered strawberries for dinner.

Lincolns birthday

No school for the kids which meant coming to the office, dentist appointments, soccer practice, and naps.

First we got some Starbucks and then they lived the dream with some ipad time.

Then Calvin found a small set of WJE legos in my office and wanted to play.

Nick met us for lunch and took them home for naps/quiet time. Then took Calvin to his dentist appointment (clean teeth and a good report). Then he got dropped off at my office while Nick took Ellie to soccer practice. Calvin first played with all my magnets and then crawled under my desk to color because he needed privacy.

La la land

Ellie's soccer practice was cancelled tonight due to rain (!!). So I decided to take her to see La La Land. Great movie. Ellie enjoyed the dancing but was bored and thought there was too much kissing ("like 10 times!").

But the best part was we ran into some friends from school. Now the youngest is a 5th grader and someone that Ellie thinks is so cool. She felt so special when she was welcomed to sit with them and then I went and sat with the moms in the back row. She's a 2nd grader and already I've been relegated to the back of the theater...

And even my baby is all grown up. He was very opinionated about being prepared for school this morning.

Haircut

Getting Calvin a haircut is tough. It's tough to get an appointment. It's stressful because he doesn't sit still. Finding parking for free is tough. We really like the salon and the cuts are great. But, he has shaggy hair and mostly it's just that his bangs are too long and he has hair in his ears. So, at the recommendation of Susie, I tried cutting his hair.

It'll grow back right?
