Excuses

Jet-lag is my excuse for falling asleep early and not doing a post last night.

I have no excuse for Calvins hair.

Back in the States

Well, Ellie and I have returned from our Austrian Adventure. What a special trip it was that I will need a while to digest and reflect on before being able to put it into sentences compressed enough for this space.

When it came time for lunch I asked Ellie what she wanted. Her response, a bean and cheese burrito. I totally related and agreed with that decision.

10 stickers!

It took him a while but he finally earned 10 stickers for sleeping in his own bed all night. So I gave him a little Mickey Mouse hotdog car toy. He wasn't impressed, I think he wanted ice cream. Oh well.







Ellie has had trouble sleeping the past few nights. She says she has a loose tooth and it bothers her...I think she actually is too excited about our trip to sleep.

Bookfair and Back to School

I spent a couple hours this morning working the Ellie's schools book fair. I have always loved book fairs and had to squash the the to buy all the bookmarks. And all the books...but I did get some Christmas presents!

I picked E up early or her piano lesson. She and her friends were designing a club. But didn't like my idea of a 3rd grade homework club...I though it was genius!






Calvins school had their back to school night tonight. Calvin said I would learn all the rules of the classroom and told me not to break them or I'd have to sit at a one table. I didn't get in trouble. Neither is he today!

Long days

It has been a long week full of school events, meetings, work deadlines, getting ready for vacation, fevers...

But Calvin has been loving school lately now that he gets to do big kid work...and drink orange juice every day.

Back at school

After missing four days of school, Ellie was back...and fever free!

She was happy to show me her "what I did on my summer vacation essay"

Activities are back

Dance, soccer, and piano are back!

Despite not feeling 100% Ellie did her best in soccer on Saturday (sat out most games though) and had dance tonight.

Show and Tell

Now that preschool has started, Fridays are show and tell days.

Calvin took Shaunagh. He was very excited to tell the class about his favorite stuffed hippo.

Sick kid

Poor Ellie.

She has been sick for the past two days. It appears she has an ear infection and some virus. She has had some high fevers which haven't broke yet (will reduce with medicine but spoke once medicine wears off). She has missed two days of school...and it was the first week of homework (but luckily no spelling test).

DIY

Ellie has gotten into YouTube videos about making clothes and accessories for American Girl Dolls. She asked to go to the fabric store over the weekend so we did. And she made a tutu for her doll all by herself!




The kids have also gotten into putting in plays and stage shows. Ellie uses her computer to DJ the shows.












Calvin was VERY excited to tell us that he did "orange work" at school today. Orange work includes cutting an orange and the juicing it...and then you get to drink the juice! He was so excited and happy.

First day of preschool 2017-2018

Today was Calvins first day of preschool for this year. Same school, same teachers, but a new year. Calvin was very excited to get back into the classroom and see the new "blue circle".

Heat

Did I mention it's hot here? And there is a brush fire that has closed a freeway near us (currently we and our house are not in danger, fire is in Tujunga).

I didn't actually take any pictures of the kids today. So enjoy a flashback Friday of how we have dealt with heat in the past.
