One table

There has been a little bit is a schedule change for the teachers at Calvin’s school. A new teacher (she was there last year and over the summer but just came back to this campus after covering for another teacher on leave at Mehers other campus) is at school so the teachers schedules have shifted. His favorite teacher now comes in later than she used to. And Calvin has not done well with the change...apparently.

Someone got a one table...

Which for a social kid like Calvin is torture.

But he has to learn that crawling on floors and sticking your tongue out at teachers is not appropriate, even if you are upset that you have less time with your favorite teacher.

Food drive

Calvin’s School is doing a good drive and he has been very motivated to contribute. He has been going through pantry asking if certain foods can be contributed.

Today he took something and was very proud.

He was also excited to show off his “I am grateful” statement. It says “...my sister and my daddy and my mom” and he signed it himself.

Minuet 2

Didn’t get a good recording during the recital so here is her playing Minuet in G Maj attributes to JS Bach.

Piano recital

Yesterday Ellie had her first piano recital with her new teacher. It was an amazing concert with most students playing one or multiple of their own compositions. There was one student who sang, another who did a jazz duet with the teacher and improvised, and another whose original song, with a very spooky title, made Calvin turn to me with a look of fear.

Determined

For some reason, Calvin as determined not to go to school today. Which wasn’t great for me as we had an early morning so I could make a 10am meeting in San Diego.

First Calvin wouldn’t get dressed.
Then he wouldn’t put on shoes.
And then he hid his lunch.

Ellie helped me out a little bit by telling him that if he went to school today and didn’t get time outs she was sure that I’d let him stay home tomorrow. (She learns fast).

Eventually we got him out the door, with his lunch, and to school. On the way to school he did call Ellie’s bluff though and ask me what today was (Friday) and confirmed that tomorrow is Saturday and therefore a “no-school” day. He wasn’t happy with Ellie.

It’s funny now looking back in the morning.

Cooler weather

It’s actually been quite chilly lately. The sweatshirts and pants have been dusted off. Calvin has learned that he has grown quite a bit since last year.

Halloween Parade

Yesterday Calvin had a costume parade at school. As it was raining (first Halloween it’s been easy than 90 degrees since we moved here) school had the parade inside in the auditorium. He was so proud and cute with all of his friends. The kids even sang for us!
