Acting Camp Day 12

Left early for school today as I had to drive to SD (and back). I'm tired. Have some more pictures from the dance recital.

Acting Camp Day 11

Final week of acting camp. She has been working hard.

Calvin has moved up to swim lessons with a teacher and no parent. The semi-private classes have two kids in each class. In Calvin's level (Level 1) the kids while waiting a turn hang onto the teacher like a piggy back ride. In Ellie's class (Level 8, almost 9) the kids swim laps as the teacher critiques their strokes and work on diving.

Ellie had her second lesson with her new teacher today. It went well and they are working on composing a song in E minor (Ellie's choice).

And a close up of Ellie's hair from yesterday at her recital. I was pretty proud of the braids.

Dance Recital Day

Ellie has been taking two dance classes: ballet and hip hop/jazz. Today was the recital and with taking two classes comes dancing in two dances. The recital was themed around The Firebird. Ellie was a princess and then a "monster" with her hip hop and jazz class.

Dance videos below (but apparently YouTube tagged the hip hop dance because of the music and took it down. Working on it).

To celebrate we headed to Yogurtland, where we ended up running into other dancers from the recital! Big thank you to her teacher Miss Natalie!

Acting Camp Day 10

She has her lines memorized. She knows the choreography of her fight scene. And she's ready with the tap dance. The show is a week away.

Tonight the adults saw The Book of Mormon at the Pantages Theatre. It was everything I wanted it to be and no less than expected from the creators of South Park and the composer of Frozen. Amazing.

Acting Camp Day 9

Yes, she was headed to acting Camp in her soccer uniform. This week is spirit week and there are general suggestions for kids to dress up (Monday was red, white, and blue; Wednesday was superhero/Disney day...). Today was sports day.

Cal felt better and went to school. Today's breakfast in the car was sliced apples and cheese.

I went to the Dodgers game as a guest of the Dodgers. The VP of facilities offered me her seats which were right behind home plate. Randomly some of the team I worked with at Fenway were in town so we all went together. And learned the lesson for staying till the end. The Dodgers came back from being down 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th. After a bunch of walks, a well placed line drive to center, and an intentional walk to tie the game there was a line drive down the left field line to score a walk-off run. So much fun.

Acting Camp Day 8

Cal is sick. He's coughing, running a fever, doesn't want to eat, and is lethargic. If he stayed still long enough he would fall asleep...but of course he needed Mommy for cuddles ALL DAY!

4th of July 2017

Today was a low-key fourth for us. We started the day with donuts and then went to the SoPas parade with friends. The highlight was seeing Judy Chu (our congressional representative). Calvin throughly enjoyed the marching band as well.

After the parade we hung out with friends for lunch and then headed home for 30 minute naps.

And then off we went to another party with friends. Some slip and slide and pool time and some scooter riding happened before hot dogs and corn.

Happy 4th of July!
