Summer hair

Ellie has been asking to dye the tips of her hair, like all the cool kids are doing. Noticing that her hair is really really long, and it’ll need a trim before school, and the tips were pretty green already from swimming, I proposed dying the tips for the rest of the summer. 

Showtime

Ellie’s sports camp is at the same school where her theater arts camp was. Tonight was the final show of the second session of theater arts camp. Two friends were at camp this week and in the show. 

So when pickup time for sports camp aligned exactly with the showtime for her friends at theater arts camp...it was a no brained to spend Friday night at the show. Ellie was fascinated to watch the show from in the audience. And she was happy to see her friends. 

Dessert today?

Calvin wanted dessert and asked for candy or cookies...as he does every night. We said no. 

Well, he decided he wanted an apple for dessert and showed off his apple cutting skills he got at school.

But first, dinosaurs!

Hydration

Elliebhad goalie training tonight. Nick had softball. So Cal came with me to soccer. It was still hot today so staying cool and drinking water were priorities. 

Ellie had her water bottle (which I refilled a couple times for her). But, Calvin found the potable water hoses and sprayers that the football team had used to cool off before the soccer kids took the field. Well, Calvin just had to try it too like the big boys...I didn’t get a good picture because he ended up spraying himself and getting soaked...but he wasn’t hot!

Record heat

It was 116 degree F last Friday in Pasadena. Saturday was forecasted to be just as warm. So we headed down to Long Beach to go to the aquarium. Lower air temps on the water, ac, many inside activities...it was a great way to spend a day of record heat.

Rest

Between the long days, Sun, and heat wave we have all been exhausted. 

I found Calvin sound asleep past the time he usually wakes up this morning.
