Snow Day

Yesterday I got busy picking up Susie and wrapping presents. So I'm a little late.

Yesterday Kids Klub brought in a snow maker and let the kids, in Pasadena, have a snow day. There were sledding hills and areas covered with snow for them to play in.

Calvin was a little apprehensive at first apparently, but them had fun and they had to completely change his outfit (and shoes) because he got so wet.

Ellie...she had a blast, except when some boy didn't stop throwing snowballs at her, she didn't like that. But she got to sled and said it was awesome, despite an early wipe out...

Jackets

Calvin hated wearing his jacket today. But eventually he learned to deal with it.

Ellie, on the other hand, loves her new jacket from Grandma Pam and Grandpa Mike, which is great because she went to Knotts Berry Farm with camp and it was cold and rainy today.

When I picked her up she was full of stories and how much fun she had. Also, true to her normal behavior she pulled out a map she had used all day and showed me and her dad all the rides she went on.

Winter camp day 1

Ellie went to winter camp at a Kids Klub. She was not happy to go. I think she was stressed about the prospect of new people and a jam packed day of new things with new people without down time (yep, she's an introvert). I got a call during the day that she wasn't participating and had claimed a headache. We chatted and I said she needed some quiet time. When I picked her up she said she had fun. Tomorrow they are headed to Knotts Berry Farm so that will be fun for her. I know she's excited about that.

Calvin has stolen Ellie's bouncy balls as well as Baby Sister and it has caused some sibling fighting lately. Calvin runs to her room and takes the bouncy balls and carries them around like they are precious gems. He won't let you get close to the either. It's cute, but really pisses E off. See the balls hidden by his plate? He's guarding them.

Nick made dinner. Like cooked real food combining more than two ingredients and turning on the stove. Cal loved it. Ellie was not impressed and said it smelled weird.

Holiday break

Today was the last day of school for E for holiday break. Yippee!

Calvin had a party at his school that we were able to bring E to.

May the force be with you

It's been a long stressful day and only part of a long, over stimulated stressful week.

Enjoy pictures of sleeping children.

School concerts

Tomorrow is Es school concert, but I am not available to go (Nick will be there) but I went to the dress rehearsal today and got to see Ellie and her classmates interact with the teachers.

Ellie didn't know I was coming, so she was shocked to see me there. She was lined up ready to enter the auditorium for the rehearsal.

It was nice getting to see them, not as formal, and with the teachers in action. She and all the first graders will dig together. Can you find her? (The blond in the second row, center).

Then tonight was the showcase for her after school program. It was super cute and well done, even the 5th graders hammed it up and were awesome. They sang Frosty...which is my least favorite Christmas song, or probably least liked song ever. But it was cute.

Isn't she cute?

Holiday art

It's the week of holiday art making and bringing home by the kids.

The candy canes below are by Cal and his friend Ellie, not his sister. There is actually a little girl named Ellen, who also goes by Ellie, in his class.

Tonight Ellie asked for the same thing Nick made the night before, a deconstructed omlette, meat and egg thingie. Well, Calvin devoured it last night. Tonight he wouldn't touch it...why? He thought it was a leftover. That is a not happy, hungry, toddler right there.

Monday

It's a crazy week. It's busy with work for me and Nick also who is producing the 5 and 6 am. It's Es last week before break so she has concerts and there are teacher gifts to be dealt with.

But Sunday was ballet recital day. It was fun, E danced well, and everyone was happy (albeit exhausted).

Filling

Because we didn't have enough going on right now we decided to deal with Ellie's cavity in her molar. So this morning I took her to the dentist to get her a filling. I woke her up a little early as she wasn't supposed to have food or water after 7am, so I let her have cereal before 7.

She had a little freak out that if she was late for school then her homework would be late. And that was unacceptable. So I took her to school to turn in her homework before school...it wasn't late and her teacher told us that it wouldn't have been late because she had an excused tardy.

And then we went to the dentist. She was a real trooper. However, modern dentistry meant that she had very minimal pain as they used lasers! Instead of a drill, he used a dentist to remove the cavity. Which also meant that I could take her right back to school and she could eat normally right away.

Back to school

Everyone was back to school and work today. Although Calvin's hair wasn't too happy about it. Kid had some of the worst bed head I have seen in a while.

He was pretty excited about the Christmas lights that Nick put up when we got home from school today.

Sick day

So me, Ellen, and Calvin were all home today...all sick. It was not fun. I probably felt the worst of the three and had to keep Calvin from bouncing off the couch all day.

This morning we went to TJs and the kids hit the jackpot with the sample. Chocolate and peppermint cheesecake...before 11am.

In the afternoon I let the kids run around in the backyard and play with all the fallen leaves.
