Calvin’s Report Card

Today we had a parent teacher conference for Calvin. This regularly scheduled event had discussion about his progress and behavior at school. There were no surprises and overall he is doing well.

The worst negative comment was about his behavior and tendancy to touch and do friends work while he is observing. He also chooses more to observe friends working than do his own work. And during these observations, even for older kids working on reading, he tends to correct or do their work for them. Also, sometimes he has trouble controlling his emotions... but he’s also three so this is normal behavior we have been assured. 

We also received some samples of his work. His metal inset work is pretty advanced for his age. Metal inset is one of Montessori’s best tools to help kids learn skills related to writing.

And for writing he is writing up to 30 and his “sounds” (Montessori speak for letters). 

And he drew me a hippo (with a stencil) in daycare today!
