Thank you Cincinnati!

I got back from my ACI conference in cincinnati. It was three very long days of meetings and networking and technical discussions. And then I had to give a talk where technology failed me. I was stuck behind a lectern with a fixed mic barely able to see the main screen. I could advance the slides on the big screen but the slides on the computer on the lectern wouldn’t advance. Quickly weighing all my options, I decided against stopping and restarting with maybe it working, and the room was too big (around 100 people) to not use a mic, so I was stuck and just hoped I remembered the presentation. I could see some of the slides and photos but couldn’t read my bullet points. But I got told I did amazing and had wonderful eye contact with the audience and was the best speaker of the day...so maybe I don’t need the presenter view!

I also saw John roeblings first bridge and the first reinforced concrete high rise. We also walked to Kentucky to try bourbon. Cincinnati was definitely more fun that I thought it would be...it wasn’t Cluj-Napoca, Romania...but it was pretty good.
