Calvin’s birthday celebrations

On his actual birthday we all slept in...even with the time change (kid got cheated out of an hour of his 5th birthday...) we still slept in more than normal. Followed by a breakfast of leftover donuts. 

Then it was time to make his cake. Calvin helped measure and mix the ingredients. The kids and Nick headed out to see some friends. Nick dropped off Calvin at home and toile E to get a present. Calvin and I took this time to decorate his cake. 

We all went to see Captain Marvel and eat dinner at the movies. We came home and had cake and opened presents. Calvin’s favorite present had to have been the pork rinds from Grandpa Mike. 

Calvin’s birthday party

On Saturday we hosted a birthday party for Calvin at Victory Park. There was sports games, legos, donuts, cookies and snacks. We set up the  badminton net and the kids had a blast...until there was sword fighting. 

Most of Calvin’s class came, I think we had 28 kids at the party. It was chaos and he loved it. It was exactly what he wanted...his friends at the park. 

We went with donuts instead of cupcakes and most of the 48 donuts we brought were eaten. 

Catch

It’s been a long couple of days and I was up way too late making LEGO cookies for Cals party. 

Calvin was up at 6:45 with his baseball uniform half on...someone was excited for his game!

This morning we headed to the baseball field for Cals game. However it was slightly drizzling but had rained overnight and it was deemed too muddy for the kids to play. Sigh. 

But there was some catch happening.

Report card time

We got Ellie’s second report card of the year. 

Similar to last trimester, she pulled straight As!

Rainy change of plans

This pst weekend we were supposed to have a soccer game and Cals first Tball game. But it rained. So plans changed. I wanted to share photos of Cal playing Tball...but I don’t have any. 

So have some of him skateboarding at a local skate park instead.

Also, Ellie got a birthday message at school.

Birthday prep

We began birthday party prep for Calvin this weekend. We are doing a simple, Lego/sports themed party at the park this Saturday. Current forecast has no rain...fingers crossed. 

One thing we are doing is a photo frame for photos of Calvin and his friends. Calvin also helped write out thank you notes for the goodie-LEGO-blond bags that we are giving out.

We had a rough evening with Ellie last night. She was in a mood and declared that her father and I only make her life difficult and we don’t do anything for her. 

So...

I left her clean laundry on her floor to be out away.

I told her to make her own lunch or take her own money to buy.

I told her to make her own breakfast while I made her brother bacon and eggs

I also told her she didn’t have a ride to school. 

At 7:30 this morning I told her she should probably leave if she was walking if she wanted to make it to school on time. Her response, “you were serious?”.

So she walked to school on her own. Well, she ran most of the way because she was afraid she would be late. I followed her in the car with Calvin. 

This evening she declared that she wants to walk everyday now. Apparently rly she saw a friend who was riding their bike and another friend who was walking.
