A daily dose of Ellie, Calvin, or both!

Yeah, that

Cal slept in till 6:30. It was nice...except that I didn't turn on my alarm (because I fell into bed when I got home from work after 11pm) and so we were about 20 minutes behind.

But we made it.

Cal was super excited to hang out in the ball pit.

After piano Ellie and I went to a tour of Kids Klub summer camp facility and to learn more about it. The tour and the camp personnel were great. The other parents weren't. But we had some time before the tour and found a playground, where E showed off her climbing ability.

The troublemaker and the neat freak

Lately Ellie has become a bit of a neat freak. She insists on making her bed and nicely laying out her pajamas before we leave for school. And she has been lining up all of her shoes by her bed, foregoing the normal pile by the door. This is all fine. Except I think making your bed is a waste of time. I mean, you are going to mess it up when you get back in it and really people shouldn't be in your bedroom (privacy please) and so who cares what it looks like. But she likes to make it. I don't give it another week.

Today I got told that Calvin has been trying to climb up the slide in the play yard. Up. Something he learned from his father and sister this past weekend.

And I got told yesterday that when Calvin realized it was snack time, he pushed a chair from the little low tables over to the high table with the bucket seat (where the non-walkers typically eat, including Cal most of the time), climbed up on the chair and tried to reach the food on the high table. Fortunately his teacher is awesome and was amazed by his logic skills and thought process rather than seeing him as the troublemaker.

Also, there were some boards showing off the kids art at daycare today. Unclear why, maybe I missed a memo, but I found Cal's art and a picture of him making the picture. It just reminded me of how great having daycare is because they do all these activities that are so messy I would never do them at home. And how yummy does that paint look! (In the picture of the picture of Cal doing the art you can see one of the little chairs he used to reach the big table, also int he picture).

I'm too tired

And I don't have enough time to write down thing meaningful before its time to practice piano. Enjoy a couple photos from the weekend.

Cal is totally obsessed with this cat book Susie got Ellie years ago. Like, totally obsessed.

The breakup

Today is a milestone. I didn't take the pump to work. I'm over it. Cal is almost a year (wait...what?!?) and we have enough of a stockpile to get through till he's a year and can safely switch told whole milk. I wasn't getting enough output with the pump to justify hauling the thing around and taking up so much time in my day.

So yeah. End of an era.

And I'm one happy mommy!

Thursday = piano day

Ellie has piano lessons on Thursdays. And it has been about 6 weeks so it has become engrained in our routine.

And Cal fell asleep on the way to school today. He usually wakes up when I park the car but today he was sound asleep and stayed asleep all the way into the classroom. He woke up when I started to unbuckle him.

Food rules

Ellie learned about eating healthy at school today. Which kinda sucks for us. Because she now refuses to eat pepperoni or salami because it has sugar in it (her teacher said so) and applesauce (because apples are better for you than Apple sauce) and her normal foods. Plus, she ripped into me because I had a handful of goldfish. But at least she is eating eggs for breakfast without argument or asking for a bagel. She also just got down from her soapbox about how the fruit snack makers are tricking all the parents and kids; fruit snacks aren't healthy.

When we got the tour of the Kangaroos room before Cal moved up we were told that the non-walkers sit at the table with the bucket seats but the walkers sit at the tables with chairs close to the ground. A teacher will take three kids at a time to feed.

When I dropped Cal off this morning a teacher was looking for a kid to fill up her table (for walkers, down low). She wouldn't take a little boy just older than Cal, but walking, because he needs to be in the bucket seats. But, she took Cal and sat him in a chair. I asked about that because he isn't a walker. She said, oh, he's suck a good eater we don't worry about him. Ha! Little Cal, hanging with the big kids.
