Last day of PTA (board)

Tonight was my last meeting as the PTA president at Es school. As much fun as it was, it took a lot out of me. For the first time in 4 years I’m not on the PTA board next year. It’ll be nice to have a break and get my Wednesday’s back!

Book Fair

This week is the book fair at Calvin’s school. He was very very excited. And this afternoon he picked out some books for himself. He spent the evening reading. It’s quite impressive to hear him reading and working out words all by himself. I know Ellie was reading at this age...but still. 

Expensive week

So besides a bigger fancier tv that was purchased last week, Nicks car decided that it wasn’t happy...in San Bernardino no less. As we were pulling into a soccer tournament in San Bernardino all the “this is really bad” lights started flashing on the dashboard. He dropped us off and got it to the nearest Toyota dealership. After having the car they decided some switch thingie needed to be replaced, but the nearest switch thingie was in New York. So a ride back to Pasadena from a friend and a rental car for us as we wait to have Nicks car...still out in San Bernardino...is fixed. Sigh...

One smart kitty

Emmett figures out how to open doors. He was able to open Calvin’s door as it didn’t have a strike plate. We would come home and his door would be wide open or in the morning it would be open...it was pretty freaky. So we put on a strike plate and now, despite his best effort, Emmett can’t get the door open anymore, well right now, maybe once he’s bigger. I wish I had a picture of him trying to get the door open, it’s quite a sight. 

Ellie had her talent show audition earlier this week. She made it in. So she was pretty pumped about that.

Sleepyhead

Calvin has become not the morning person. It’s becoming more difficult to wake him up each morning. 

T-ball!

Calvin is living his T-ball season. Although expected given his general enthusiasm about sports and baseball, it’s always fun to see a kid have a blast and excel at something. 

He again had some great hits off his dad this past weekend and had some recognizable plays. He is getting better at playing catch...so it almost looks like a legit back and forth between him and Nick. 

And I’m always amazed at the beautiful scenery we have at the games. 

Happy 39th Nick!!

The kids made him his cake (following the recipe with only minor help from me) and decorated it this afternoon. I like the innovation of adding various toppings besides frosting and sprinkles. The kids added strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips, and Nicks favorite, gummy bears. 

It wasn’t his only (or first) cake of the day as his birthday was celebrated bright and early (and on air) at work. (I got a text from a work colleague...a contractor...telling me to wish Nick a happy birthday because he saw it on KTLA)

And Nick probably is happiest about his birthday present...our 11-year old TV finally has reached the end of its service life and he is more than excited to buy a new, and bigger, TV.
