The reviews are in
The following was a text from a friend regarding Ellie’s performance at the talent show yesterday. I love the juxtaposition of her comment with my lock screen photo.
And we got Ellie’s report card today. Straight As. She made me promise that if she got all As this year she could dye the tips of her hair again for the summer...I’m guessing she will want blue again.

Talent show
Ellie has been working for months on her talent show entry. She choreographed it, designed her costume, asked for private dance lessons, and practiced it for a long time. And then she choreographed another routin with her friends. So she had two dances in the show today.

Now it’s pretty intimidating to get up and do a dance solo in front of your entire school and some parents. Nick was able to go and said she was great and it was well received. And I got some text messages about how good she was. And she was happy and proud of herself.

Memorial Day Ninja
Today Ellie attended a special ninja training at a gym out in San Dimas. It’s a gym we have been to before owned and ran by guys who have been on American Ninja Warrior with successful runs. If it was closer we would go more often. Today they had a special training with a female ninja, Tiana Webberly.

Ellie was a little apprehensive at first, but within minutes was happy and excited to be there. Tiana (aka Sweet T) was sweet and supportive and really helpful for E. Ellie also had some impressive runs on obstacles. Ellie’s favorite part was a massive game of tag with the kids and ninja coaches (including Tiana and the owner Arnold). People were climbing and jumping and parkouring all over the place to avoid being tagged. It was hilarious. Ellie has a new ninja role model and someone to look up to. I’m not sure she knows how lucky she is to not only have the opportunity to go to these ninja gyms but also meet and train with actual ninjas! She also took some time to talk to Tiana about her job as a stunt woman and what she likes about it and how she trained to get the job.

Spring Concert
It is the end of year busy season at school. Yesterday was Ellie’s school spring concert. Her music teacher really is fantastic and does such a great job. And this year she has been important to Ellie given everything else with her main teacher. Ms Desrosier pushes the kids and definitely gives them musical challenges and exposes them to so many great things. Ellie’s class sang in a minor key, and in native language from New Zealand. Every concert I’m blown away with what she achieves with the students. Ellie really was so excited and proud of her performance.

T-ball last game 2019
On Saturday Calvin had his last T-ball game of the 2019 season. He was happy with his hits and a play at first. He had a blast this year and made new friends. I know he’s bummed for the season to end. But, there is next year...and he’s asked to play AYSO this fall.

Always a finalist...
Ellie had a two weekend soccer tournament conclude yesterday. They made it to the final game, but lost. Hence they got finalist medals. Ellie and her teammates were frustrated and disappointed as they seem to make the finals but never win the final game. However, they need to be proud that they are getting to the final game! Seriously, not that many teams were still playing in the tournament on Sunday (previously eliminated based on games won/lost/tied and point differentials) and only two teams even got medals and they were one of them! Still, Ellie, and her teammates, have a hunger for the winner medals!

Overslept
For the first time in forever since I can remember I slept through my alarm and ended up waking up 45 minutes late. Fortunately we made it out the door on time.

Ellie had a busy day with the Color Run this afternoon.

Open House
Tonight was Ellie’s Open House at school. It’s a chance to see her work and classroom and spend time with the teacher. We avoided the teacher and just picked up her work so she could show it to us at home. But then spent time hanging out with friends and Calvin spent time in a kinder classroom (where he read all the sight words and the message the teacher had on the board...)
