Rest Day

We learned from our last trip that you need a day in the middle of a D-World trip for rest. No parks. Also, if we planned a day to go swimming it would stop the continuous requests to swim from the kids.

Nick pulled some strings and called in favors and maybe flashing his “im kinda a big deal” badge and got us last minute reservations at Chef Mickeys, locates in our hotel. Calvin saw it the first day and started asking to eat there for every meal. I kid about Nick calling in favors, but he did call a former coworker from Boston who is now a Disney travel agent kind of person (who helped us with this trip) and she pulled some strings and called in favors.

So we had breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, goofy, and Pluto. Goofy and a few others loved Calvin’s hat.

Following breakfast we headed to Disney Springs (Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island...). We saw a HS band, bought souvenirs, ate Cuban food for lunch and then headed back to the hotel.

Everyone spent the afternoon swimming until it was time to clean up and head to the Polynesian Resort for the luau dinner and show!

The show was impressive and the food was great. Our server was a Illinois alum (Nick was wearing his bright orange shirt, as he does during Disney trips so I can find him easily). Ellie are an entire pig. Calvin ate the legs of maybe half a dozen chickens. Nick ate an entire cow worth of ribs. Nick also got a giant ludacris drink...and we get to bring the coconut monkey home. Calvin went up on stage to dance because he was a March birthday.
