New camp #2

This week is the second new summer camp for Ellie. It’s a camp through the City that is run by the same program that does her after school program. They have several camps all over the city but this one is in the arroyo and focused on nature. There is swimming and archery and lots of outdoor time. Today they went horseback riding. She seems to be enjoying the activities. 

She knows one person, a boy from school that I’m friends with the mom and we have carpooled. She says she’s been forced to hang out with him because she doesn’t know anyone else and the girls wanna talk only about unicorns and “girl stuff”. The counselors also make her wear a hat and lots of sunscreen. The jury is still out on if this is a winner. She doesn’t seem to be enjoying the kids or wearing a hat but she has enjoyed the activities. 

I also don’t have any pictures of her at camp or with her hat on or actually applying sunscreen without fighting me. But imagining it makes me happy...at least there haven’t been any sunburns or red cheeks this week!
