Ellie was tasked with learning about the American Revolution while we were in Boston. So, we decided to visit a museum that none of us had been to before, The Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum. There were replica ships, meeting house, and a museum with the last remaining known box that was thrown overboard. The kids got to throw tea in the harbor and learned about the start of the revolution. It was a little over Calvin’s head, but I think Ellie was engaged and learned a lot. It was a good summary of the start of the revolution presented at a jr high level. They also had talking portraits (a la Hogwarts) of King George and Sam Adams who had a lively debate about the merits of American Independence.
